While not working, I pursue my interests of reading books, regular exercise, hobby coding and traveling.
My hobbies and interest are aligned with my goal of consistently bettering myself. I invest significant amount of time in identifying the areas of self-improvement and then attune my routines and habits to fill in the voids. To know more about me please scroll down.

About me
I was born and raised in a small town named Bhogpur in the Indian state of Punjab. While growing up in the countryside my access to the world class educational resources was limited and my parents sent me to the available best school in the neighborhood. I was very enthusiastic and curious student who discovered the joy of self-study at very early age. I was ranked 1st in the district and fourth state-wide in my senior secondary school exams. This was a big achievement for me as I completely relied on self-study because we didn't had full-time faculty in my school to teach the essential courses in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Additionally, I didn't take any personal tuition/coaching to study these subjects due to accessibility, guidance and financial constraints. Instead, I developed a discipline of reading from several well-known texts and understanding the concepts myself. During my undergraduate education I continued with the self-study approach by taking curriculum-matched courses from the open courseware platforms (MIT-OCW, NPTEL, etc.) and read standard texts to build a strong foundation in electronics and communication engineering. This led to an internship opportunity in Motorola's patent engineering section where I got training in patent drafting, filing and prosecution in USPTO and WIPO. Patent engineering internship motivated me to pursue a career in research and hence I registered for a Ph.D at IIT Guwahati under the able guidance of Prof. Amit Sethi (now at IIT Bombay). I defended my thesis in February 2017 (submitted in September 2016) and joined as a post-doc in Prof. Peter Gann's lab at UIC. I am determined to do quality work and committed to utilize my skills and experience to impact lives.
